If the God of the Bible is real, you need to know with 100% certainty. If He is not real, you need to know with 100% certainty.
So why are you looking to people who have no idea if He is real or not for the answer? Why are you looking to people who are certain He isn’t real but have never accepted the possibility? You have accepted the possibility, that is why you are reading this. So why are we allowing the blind to lead the blind? Why are you looking for the answer from every source under the sun except THE Source: Him?
You have to stop yourself from getting hung up on all of the hang-ups and ever expanding chain of possible implications: The what-ifs, the fear, the anger, the changes you might have to make, what you might lose.
You have to stop yourself from worrying about what is in Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus or any book of the Bible right now. That stuff settles itself, but you aren’t there yet.
I’m about to tell you something so beautifully simple that you are going to be amazed, you simply wont be able to believe that it is truly this simple, but it is.
All the arguing and back and forth? Guess what? He is not in that. That’s not His way. His way is truth, and the truth is simple. We are the ones that make it difficult.
You want to know for sure whether or not God, the Creator, Jesus Christ, Yahweh, The Big Chief, The King, really really exists or not without a shadow of doubt in your mind? If you mean it in earnest you will find what you are looking for:
1. The first thing you have to have is the desire to really know the truth no matter what the implications of that discovery may be.
2. The second thing you have to have is enough faith that if He is real, then He is, as He says, a man of His word who desires a relationship with you and will make Himself known to you.
3. The third thing you have to do is: Ask.
If you ask in earnest and He is real, He will reveal Himself to you because He promises to do so.
If He does not, then He is a liar and therefore not who He claims to be.
It really is that simple.
HOWEVER: There is but one caveat to this which should be cancelled out by item #1. If you are the kind of person who can delude yourself into thinking you really want to know the truth but approach Him with a haughty, mocking or disingenuous attitude, you will get nothing. I repeat: Nothing. In this case you should not suppose to know anything more than you did before you started—So don’t do that, you want to know the truth and a mustard seed’s worth of faith is all you need. Don’t mess up your opportunity to know for sure because you have a wrong attitude:
The way you know you are approaching Him with the right heart is that faith, small as it may be, in the possibility that you may be speaking to the Creator of the universe and Savior of all mankind who may love you, will evoke in you a personal humility. If you aren’t approaching this experience with humility, you don’t have enough faith. Walk away and try again when you mean it.
It is what is in your heart, not the words that come out of your mouth that mean something to Him, after all.
“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” Luke 11:9-10 NKJV
That is a promise. Take Him up on it and see what happens.
Go now, fellow traveler, go to a private place, get on your knees and feel really stupid and a little awkward, feel scared and maybe even excited. With all your heart, desire to know the truth and ASK with just the amount of faith you need to believe that if He really is who He says He is He will answer you.
